Impressions of the 'Fashion International' - Show at London Fashion Week

Last week we were talking about how to enjoy London Fashion Week even if you're not in the front-row. We had the chance to attend a fashion show on Saturday, 19th September. The show took place at the elegant Ballroom of the world famous Amba Charing Cross Hotel in London.

The show we were invited to was not a main London Fashion Week Show, it was organized by 'Fashion International'. Aga Couture London, Daniel Syiem, Forever Devine, Yuvna Kim, Lenie Boya and Omar Mansoor were the designers who presented their new Spring/Summer collection for 2016.

Each line was different and it was amazing to see six different styles: from ladylike and feminine silhouettes to very straight and clear cuts, but every piece was unique and on its way perfect.
After all presentations there was a after-show-reception where you could meet the designers with their models, talk to them and take some pictures.

To show you some inspiration for SpringSummer 2016 here are some impressions of the amazing shows!

London Fashion Week - Enjoy it even if you're not in the front-row!

These are the days - like each year the most famous designers and brands are going to present their Spring/Summer-Collections for 2016 at London Fashion Week. After six years at Somerset House, this year it is moved to Brewer Street in Soho: the perfect place for a city-wide fashion celebration.

"The brilliant thing about Brewer Street is that we'll be able to have natural light coming in through the roof" , said Caroline Rush, the CEO of the British Fashion Council.

The idea of this trade event? The £28 billion British fashion-industry wants to show what they created to global press, industry buyers, bloggers, photographers and chancers. So just take a look at all the beautiful models wearing clothes of the most famous designers of the world. But there will be as well some newcomers who will have their first show during the next five days. Edeline Lee, Toga and Hills & Friends are mentioned as Must-See.

When you have no possibility to go to London Fashion Week, why not checking out the London Fashion Weekend (24th - 27th September)? Host in the Saatchi Gallery you can find Trend Shows by TheOutnet.com and Designer Galleries of international and British Brands, framed by a dynamic events programme. It is the perfect alternative to get a taste of the Fashion Week including insider knowledge and style advice.

But if you don't want to watch alone, enjoy London Fashion Week at Carnaby. You can watch all the shows on a ginormous outdoor screen; and always keep your eyes open: there are a few shops giving discounts or small gifts. At least get yourself a London Fashion Week Cocktail at Riding House Cafe at the end of the day (each one is named after snappy quotes from the likes of Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Wintour) and discuss about the stunning collections.

You don't need to sit in the front row to experience London Fashion Week, you just need to know where to go else!

Designer Anita Dongre's Life - A Success Story

There is no denying that designer Anita Dongre is one of the most popular and successful Indian fashion designers. Indeed she has been at the forefront of the Indian fashion scene for over 20 years, but how did she succeed and get so famous?

Indian Fashion Designer Anita Dongre

First, as she always loved fashion and style, she studied designing from SNDT, Juhu - a leading Indian fashion school in which she graduated in 1983 - and Bcom from Narsee Monjee. Then to realise her passion for design, she and her sister Meena Sehra, acquired two sewing machines in order to create and supply clothes to a boutique called Saks which was frequented by Bollywood stars. She made a line made from linen for the boutique which agreed to sell her collections. It was a success and Saks wanted more of her creations and this is what launched her career in the world of fashion. And then for few years Anita Dongre not only supplied to famous boutiques in major Indian cities, but also in other cities all around the world.

After these experiences she finally decided to create her own label with fresh ideas. The boutiques thought that it will not work, but she travelled several times and had seen that trends were changing. She wanted to design something that urban women can wear and the only way to do it were to retail by herself and so found her own business.

Supported by her sister and also her brother who left his job to join them, thus the company And Designs India Ltd. (ADIL) was created in 1998 and the ascent to success started here.

In mid-1999, the label “AND”, which offers a collection of western wear, was launched as an answer to the growing needs of the Indian woman. Today the label remains and has evolved to keep pace with its clients’ changing lifestyles.

At the core of the fashion industry she was able to realise one of her dreams and launch her couture design label “ANITA DONGRE”. It was launched in 2000 at IGEDO, an international forum.

Anita Dongre is the only Indian Designer chosen to showcase her collection at the Finale of the IGEDO Spring Summer Fashion Show. The signature label includes different sub-label that cover varied needs in the market: TIMELESS, IINTERPRET, GRASSROOT, MENSWEAR and recently launched PINKCITY which is a line of jewelry.

The last of ADIL’s high fashion brands launched in 2007 it is called “GLOBAL DESI”. It is inspired by Indian heritage of colours, fabrics, prints etc.

Anita Dongre's inimitable creations have reached award shows, global red carpets, international catwalks and the pages of many other events. She acquired the loyalty of everyday kind of people and also several celebrities such as Shraddha Kapoor, Anuradha Mahindra, Juhi Chawla, Neha Dhupia, Urmila Matondkar and more.

Bollywood and Indian Fashion Designers work very close to each other. A lot of the movie stars are on the catwalk for the designers in the different fashion weeks.

Leading ladies from Bollywood are usually a fixture on the catwalk, usually for their favourite designers. The close relationship is not surprising because consumers and media usually look to the shows for inspirations for their looks.

The collection showcased by Payal Singhal at the last LFW W/F was divided in two parts.

The first part was an exciting presentation of traditional wearing with graphic prints in a palette of black and white. The second one was more influenced by western fashion.

The collection branded Payal Singhal was inspired by the symmetry and the relationship between nature and architecture. Looking at this pictures we can imagine a Persian style of garden where the space is divided into four equal parts - Such a chic style!

Everybody loves a Bollywood showstopper. The crowds at Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai were no exception this week as they witnessed diva Jacqueline Fernandez walking the ramp for designer Shehla Khan in luxurious Indian bridal wear.

Speaking about the designer's styling of Indian bridal wear, Fernandez said 'Shehla is a sweet and soft spoken girl, this reflects in her clothes as well which are very feminine, very girly but also wearable and contemporary for all ages. Through Sonam (Kapoor) and I got to know not only a wonderful designer but a beautiful person. I’m so thrilled to be her showstopper today. I feel like a modern day princess!'

Shilpa Reddy’s Debut: Refined Collection Of Indian Clothes

The talented Shilpa Reddy already enchanted us with her exclusive collection of saris.
Probably she was so satisfied about the results that wanted to challenge her creative mind one more time designing an entire line of Indian clothes!
The line will represent Shilpa’s debut at Lakme Fashion Week.
We are sure that the collection will collect a fairly good success. Colours are different and mixed in an expert way, precious embroideries are perfectly embedded in the fabric, but the unique characteristic of these unique styles of Indian clothes is the shoulder structure: each dresses or jacket has this special and trendy shape.
At least one piece of this collection should enter in your wardrobe both if you love Indian clothes or not!
