Picture Of The Day: Indian Wedding Clutch By Meera Mahadevia

Today, I want to show you my favourite wedding clutch. It would perfectly accessorise a bridal lehenga. Merra Mahadevia detailed it with metal work and I really like this. But to be honest, her styles are so beautiful that I had a hard time to choose between all her stunning creations... Take a look at the StrandOfSilk website and you will undoubtedly share my opinion!

Bollywood actress, Katrina Kaif, can't help but sizzle as the latest cover girl of Verve. While the June edition of the fashion magazine lists the 50 Influential Women in India, it's Kaif who poses for the cover.

Styled by Nirali Mehta, in a Rajesh Pratap Singh shift dress in metallic shades and shot by photographer Atul Kasbekar, Katrina is the perfect image of power, poise, glamour and panache.

Wedding Saree or a Bridal Lehenga?

PICTURE OF THE DAY!

Today I wanted to post about Indian bridal wear, but when it came up to choose what to show you, I really couldn't select between a wedding saree and a bridal lehenga...

Then I decided to just show you both! You will tell me which one you like best!

Thank you Strand of Silk for these beautiful Indian bridal clothes!

Invited to an Indian wedding? Wear a Saree!

Dear All!

It seems like the bridal season has taken over!
I recently received a lot of calls and texts from some friends asking me what to wear for the weddings that they got invited to. Most of them were asking me about the perfect outfits for their friends' Indian weddings! I felt important. I know that among my friends I'm the one who knows the most about it.

I suggested to all of them to wear sarees for two reasons: the first one is that not only the wedding sarees, but all sarees are incredibly beautiful IMHO; the second one is that I think that for a European girl wearing a saree for a special event is more exciting as compared to wearing a Lehenga or a Salwar.
Lehengas and Salwars can be considered as a particular kind of skirt or dress, while a saree is a unique garment!

The styles above are two sarees by Siddartha Tytler (Left and Right) and a wedding saree by Raakesh Agarvwal. They are available on Strand of Silk's website!

PS: If you are looking for your perfect style for your friend's wedding, don't forget the right accessories!  Wedding Clutches are a must have this season!

See you soon for the next stylish advices!

Special Focus on: The Wedding jewels

In Indian weddings, jewellery is as much important as bridal lenghas dresses, the make-up and the hair.

It has been used for adornment since centuries and if men use bracelets, pendants and earrings, the Indian women wear them for other significance.
In fact, for Indian women, jewellery is considered auspicious and whatever they are poor or rich, women wear some jewels.
In Strand of Silk we think jewels bring light to a woman’s face and embellish her: her skin, her eyes and her hair are enhanced thanks to the colour and the of metal and precious stones.
Traditionally, jewellery has always been linked with wealth, power, femininity and status.

Jewels are gifted at different events and phases of life in an Indian woman’s life : birth, coming of age, marriage, becoming a mother, and certain ornaments are essential for married Indian woman.

We suggest you few indian contemporary jewellery pieces available on Strand of Silk’s e-shop. You can wear it during the day, on the evening, or even in a wedding:
