Anushree Reddy’s New Collection Inspired By Kalki’s Indian Bridal Wear

We all know that Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap tied the knot in 2011.
But did you know that her Indian bridal wear was the inspiration for designer Anushree Reddy’s Winter 2013 collection? The actress was very stirred: “It’s really beautiful and I was really touched because she said she was inspired by my own wedding when she saw such an easy-going bride”, she said. 




Reddy’s new collection is composed of Indian bridal wear – bridal lehenga cholis in very light material and cream colors with shades of pink and green.

Jacqueline Fernandez at Lakme Fashion Week in Indian Bridal Wear

Everybody loves a Bollywood showstopper. The crowds at Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai were no exception this week as they witnessed diva Jacqueline Fernandez walking the ramp for designer Shehla Khan in luxurious Indian bridal wear.


Speaking about the designer's styling of Indian bridal wear, Fernandez said 'Shehla is a sweet and soft spoken girl, this reflects in her clothes as well which are very feminine, very girly but also wearable and contemporary for all ages. Through Sonam (Kapoor) and I got to know not only a wonderful designer but a beautiful person. I’m so thrilled to be her showstopper today. I feel like a modern day princess!'

Other Lakme Fashion Week showstoppers included Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Malaika Arora Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Alia Bhatt to name a few. Many wore Indian bridal wear.

Anita Dongre’s New Collection of Indian Bridal Wear

Anita Dongre showcased her new collection of Indian Bridal Wear at Lakme Fashion Week on Friday. Her Jaipur Bride 2013 was dedicated to the Rajasthani culture; it took elements from ‘Bandhani’ to ‘bandi’. About the Jantar Mantar’s influence on her creations, she said “I am fascinated by it. It’s a scientific marvel and I want the world to know about it”. (Thank you Anita!)

The colour palette she used for wedding functions included bright pink, lime green and ink blue.

Nargis Fakhri To Wear Indian Clothes For Her Wedding

American-born actress Nargis Fakhri recently announced that she wishes to wear Indian clothes for her wedding – even though she has no plan on tying the knot soon.
She showed off Ashima and Leena’s bridal collection during India Bridal Fashion Week 2013. She was wearing a dazzling golden lehenga teamed with meenakari choli. « When I will get married, I will definitely wear an Indian wedding dress. It will be something like what I wore today », she said about her dream wedding outfit.

The duo designer’s collection features Indian clothes inspired by Delhi’s age old culture and traditions.
