Dear all,
When I recently tarted interacting with the bloggers that are dealing with international fashion I realized how poor the knowledge about the local traditions is.
At the beginning I was kind of surprised. "You are having and interview with an indian fashion company and you don't have a bloody clue about what that even means?!" Then before speaking I think a bit and I realize that there is actually nothing strange with that.
I can tell that before joining this company my knowledge of traditional clothing was only deriving from my trips, and obviously it was not as deep as it is now (and there is still a lot to know!!).
What I noticed is that when you aks someone to think about and asian long dress, for instance, very often people think of a Japanese Kimono or to the commonly defined "Traditional Chinese" dress. (see images above). Even now, if you asked me the traditional name of the long asian dresses below on the right, I would not even know what to start with...
I used to have very limited knowledge of the different Indian garments... But in the recent months found out a lot about the different types of Indian long dresses, which are most suitable for which type of event and so on.
Now I also distinguish Indian bridal dresses from the Pakistani ones! And a few months ago they looked identical to me!
Now that you figured out how ignorant I am on the Asian Fashion beyond the Indian Fashion ( =P) I can show you why I wanted to talk about long Indian dresses today!
I recently fell in love with one of the collections that Strand of Silk launched. It's a collection of Salwars and Anarkalis with very particular embroideries! The problem is that living in London I don't know when I could use it! :( Same problem with the indian bridal dresses... I see gorgeous details and all the rest, I look for a decent excuse to buy them but I havent found any yet.
IF YOU ARE ORGANIZING A THEME PARTY WITH INDIAN CLOTHING IN LONDON, OR IF YOU ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO GET MARRIED WITH AND INDIAN TRADITIONAL CEREMONY, CONTACT ME! I WILL BE GLAD TO ATTEND! (and finally have a great occasion to look great in my dream clothes!)
Have a nice week!
