Indian Jewellery: History, Indian Designers, Events






The ethnic jewellery designs from India are unique and timeless. The traditional designs come from the eras of the kings and queens who ruled India before the British rule. The modern designs of Indian jewellery continue on these traditional lines and make ideal gifts for birthdays or wedding occasions.




Indian jewellery still very popular, thanks to some talented Indian designers who are specialized in accessories and jewelleries.
It’s the case of Pinky Saraf, who has managed to introduce her collections as one of the most prestigious brand in jewellery and clutches in India in the last 6 years.
She created a variety of Jewellery (neckpieces, earrings, cuffs, rings) from traditional styles until contemporary styles.





Roopa Vohra is a very innovative Indian designer who has a huge success with some Bollywood celebrities. She gives a new contemporary touch in her creations and she has developed her own technique, which is called Naqaashi (gold embossed on glass).


India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) is the most important event for Indian jewellery. 
This event, which takes place in India each year, is an initiative to showcase India's finest jewellery.
